Student Profile - Chantz Boykins
This Tampa Bay Tech eleventh grader has been an active participant at CMG for the past two years. Chantz was awarded his Certiport IC3 certificate in December, 2006. He is now a student in our Wednesday night Comp TIA A+ class. He has always been one of our more extroverted students. We can count on Chantz to request the instructor to explain the all material in more detail.

CMG Comp TIA A+ class student, Chantz Boykins.
Chantz's high school studies are preparing him to be an electrician. He feels that his CMG computer training will enable him to advance more quickly in the electric maintenance field. He plans to do post-secondary studies at Hillsborough Community College.
Chantz was introduced to CMG by his cousin, Kayla King. She convinced Chantz to dedicate one night per week to CMG computer training. Kayla was an outstanding CMG student, and now assists CMG as an assistant trainer. We thank Kayla for providing CMG with this exceptional student.
CMG Provides Unequaled Community Computer Training
In the past few years, CMG has expanded its training offerings tremendously. Teen computer training only was our initial mission. We now conduct computer classes at multiple locations, for all age groups, and some classes are in the english and spanish languages. Our community training hours have increased from 1200 hours in 2006, to 1600 hours in 2007, to a staggering 2400 hours in 2008.

From the Director
Hello again all,
Once again, thanks for taking the time to read our newsletter.
It's time to start thinking about back-to-school again. The first day of school is just another a little over a month away. We will again be hosting our Back-To-School Computer Giveaway and will be providing 100 computers to families with school aged children in need. Last year you may recall that we provided every student at Academy Prep with a computer for their home. Academy Prep is a private school where they are getting amazing results from theses low-income students. We will continue this new tradition by providing a computer to every new incoming student. In addition we are looking to provide training and Internet service as well.
But we need your help. We have a challenge grant from one of our favorite, though anonymous funders. They have challenged us that if we can find a $10,000 match, they will help us providing training and Internet service for these students. We want to give a big thank you to Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union who has met a portion of the challenge with a $5,000 donation from their Suncoast for Kids Foundation, so all we need is another $5,000 match. Imagine how important it is for the kids to have this service by thinking of what you would have to do if you didn't have a computer or Internet in your home.
Get Ready, Get Ready, Get Ready
Tech Bowl 2008 is approaching! We will be starting our advertising campaign next week for additional sponsors, so get in early before the sponsorships fill up.
The Tech Bowl is a "Family Feud" style panel competition where teams of 4 teenagers compete using their knowledge of computers and technology to win great technology prizes including brand new laptop computers for each member of the winning team.
This year's sponsors already include Citi, Raymond James Financial, St. Petersburg Times, and Numara Software. And we've also heard from most of last years team sponsors including defending champion and current holders of the Tech Bowl Microsoft Corporation.
Contact me for additional information or to sponsor a team.
Sincerely,
