 IC3 Certification & Training Program

IC3 Certification – or Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³) program is the world's first validated, standards-based training and certification program for basic computing and Internet knowledge and skills. Successful completion of IC³ ensures you have the knowledge and skills required for basic use of computer hardware, software, networks, and the Internet.

IC³ is comprised of 3 major sections:
  1. Computing Fundamentals: Basic computing terminology, and hardware identification and functions, software and software types, operating systems and different computing platforms are taught.

  2. Key Applications: Common program functions, word processing functions to an intermediate level, and spreadsheet processing functions to an intermediate level.

  3. Living Online:  Covers networks, the Internet, electronic mail, using Internet resources like search engines, online dictionaries and e-commerce.


Computer Ownership:
Students are offered the opportunity to earn their own computer.  To qualify, the students must complete the IC3 Certification course.  Students actually achieving the certification will receive as a bonus Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook) and free Internet access.  The donated computer is supplied with at least 128MB of memory, 17" SVGA monitor, CD-ROM drive, mouse, keyboard, sound card, modem.  WindowsXP Professional, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).  The computer becomes the exclusive property of the student upon acquisition.  With the assistance of volunteers, students are required to assemble and/or upgrade the computer as well as install operating system and software.
