 The Awakening

As I approached the downtown area, I realized that I had a little bit of extra time. I noticed a very secure looking building on the left. I had never noticed that building before, but something told me to stop and go there. I pulled over and saw that it is the Ybor City branch of the Hillsborough County Library. I went inside and asked for the Head Librarian. She was not present, but I was directed to the Assistant Head Librarian.

I told her that I was looking for space to host computer classes. Her eyes lit up as she looked over my shoulder. When I looked back I noticed a large empty room. The assistant told me that she was certain that the Head Librarian would want to speak to me, and asked for a number where I could be reached. I explained that I had to be in court for jury duty and gave her my pager number, saying that I would return her call during the first break.

Sure enough, I received a page during court from the Head Librarian. I returned the call on the first break. She started the conversation by saying that I was not going to believe what she was doing. You see, she had taken two days out of the library to write a proposal to the county requesting funds to start a skills center. The cornerstone of this skills center was to be computer-training classes for youth.
